08/05/2010 Straight from my heart.. Dear Friends, I was advised this week that we may have only 8 to 12 weeks before the bank forecloses on the property and we lose our sanctuary. This is all due to the property owner filing for bankruptcy, without any warning whatsoever. Now every morning when I walk outside and see all of the 300 innocent animals, I realize that we could lose them all. In that 95% of these animals are unadoptable, the possibility of other no-kill sanctuaries taking them in is very slim. We must raise $197,000 to purchase the property and in this big world that we live in, I know there are 197 people out there that could each donate $1000. When I chose the name for our organization, Goliath was a beloved great dane and Bebe was a small, handicapped cat. It was their world that needed lots of attention and I gave them mine, as I devoted my life to that world, which I now see may come tumbling down. This has been a very humbling experience for me as I have never had to beg for anything, but this is about the animals, and I am now begging for their sake. We've tried challenges, we've had stories on the local tv news and radio stations, we've had stories in various newspapers... and though we have gotten a few donations that we very much appreciate, it hasn't been enough. We've even gone as far as to contact celebrities such as Ellen Degeneres, Oprah, Martha Stewart, and others; hoping for replies. There have been none. This is the most important thing I've ever had to do in my life. These animals need major help and they need it now. We've set up a special bank account where donations made toward saving the sanctuary will be held. As this account grows, so will our ability to negotiate with the bank. I hope and pray that this won't be the scenario. I am keeping my faith that there are people out there that love animals enough to dig deep and help us to keep them safe. Please pick up the phone... Call your friends... Call your local news stations... Help us to help the animals. Remember... All we need are 197 people that can donate $1000 and we can call the sanctuary our own.
