It has been
almost a year since we adopted Murphy (his name was Neptune). I thought I
would send some pictures and an update! Murphy is the most loveable dog
you will ever meet! He is about 55 pounds and still growing so he is a
big boy! He thinks he is a lap dog and is very happy when he is sitting
on either mommy or daddy's lap. He even has a special happy noise he
makes :) He loves belly rubs and lays on his back when you walk by. He
loves to play with his rope and makes it a mission to destroy any other
kind of toy. He is very obedient and knows how to sit, speak, give paw,
give high-five, lay down and roll over. He loves to chase frogs and
lizards even though they are too fast for him. I included 3 pictures, one
when he was a puppy the first night home and the other two pictures are of
Murphy's first boat ride when we vacationed in the Keys (of course we had
to take our baby with us!), he didn't like the water so much but had a
blast on the boat. We love him very much and can't even remember life
without him! Thank you for all the work that you do to protect and
provided loving home for all the animals.

We just wanted to send an update on Roxy, our lab/ collie puppy that
we adopted in August. We love her!! Our other two dogs, Sikha and
Gusto, trained her up in doggie etiquette the first couple of days,
with a bit of snapping and snarling. After that was accomplished they
decided that she was good fun and now really enjoy playing tug-of-war,
romping in the fields, and splashing through big puddles with her.
Roxy has been pretty well-behaved with our two cats, only breaking
into a chase every now and then. The cats know they hold the upper
hand, so they are not worried and we know it'll only be a matter of
time before they actually play together.
Roxy is relishing her long morning walks and the wide open spaces here
on our property. We are enjoying her company and are looking forward
to the years we'll have her in our family.
Thank you so much for your nice service to many fortunate animals.

I wanted to give you an update on Jara/Lola who we adopted on July 5,
2009. We decided to call her Jasmine (Jazz for short) and she is quickly
learning her name and some very basic commands (most of which I think she
already knew). She is getting along wonderfully with our Cocker Spaniel
(Oreo) and is a pleasure to have in our home. Our cat Eclipse is still a
little reluctant to roll out the welcome mat, but I am sure they will
become great friends soon.
She found many challenges when she came into our home. It has taken her
two days to brave the long walk to the second floor of our home and the
screened in patio still confuses her at times. We have been working with
her to master the dog door and she is learning more and more everyday.
She is eating well and I am happy to say she has not had one accident in
our home!
We love her so much and are so grateful your organization took her in and
made her the sweet loving puppy that she is. I have attached some
pictures of her playing in her backyard after dinner and I think you will
agree she looks right at home.
Kind regards,
Leslie

I'm Tator Tot
|

Me as a baby.
|

My big-boy picture |
I live in Palm Coast, Florida
I'm a happy dog!!!

Hello,
I am the person who adopted Tator Tot. I had sent a picture of Tator
awhile back, just thought I would send some others. I love that Tator’s
puppy picture is still on the website. As for an update on Tator, he
ended up injuring his leg (running in the back yard), we finally got it
diagnosed-Lateral Superficial Digital Flexor Tendon (SDF) Luxation, huh?
-well it turns out its not a common injury. I now know why I was suppose
to have Tator Tot-I understand that many people would not spend the money
necessary to “fix” his leg (some people that I know seemed to think it was
“unnecessary”), but I consider Tator my baby, so the good news is he just
had surgery, which went well, and should be back to normal in about two
months. We are happy that the news is good because we will be thinking
about adding to the family when he is all better. Of course we will make
our way up to petco once we are “back to normal”. Hope you enjoy the
pictures!

We already had Olivia, and when she was
about 3 months old, we came to Petco and adopted Angus to be her
buddy.
Now, that they are 3 and 5, we decided
we had room for more. So, a few weeks ago, we came into Petco again
and found Joanna, Dark Cocoa and Buttons.
Seeing them all together, we just
couldn't pick one over the others, so we decided to adopt all
three. We changed their names to Chloe, Stanley, and Benny.
All 5 of our babies are doing terrific
together. We couldn't be happier. We were a little worried at
first about our special little girl Olivia and how she was going to
accept the new babies. As you can see from the pictures, she and
Stan are already best friends.
Thanks for bringing these precious
babies to Petco, so we could find them.
Sincerely,
Stacey Reames

Hunter and Raymond.
It was a "purrfect" match.
The owner of Hunter- a 120lb. Blood Hound had just lost her
cat after age 10. She was devastated and so was Hunter, she seemed lost
without her, even though the cat they had lost didn't like her! She never
got along with Hunter. Hunter's Mom was in Petco and spotted Raymond, a
domestic long haired "Maine Coon Mix". She wasn't ready but Hunter was. It
was difficult to make the decision, but she decided to inquire about
Raymond. After asking the volunteer at Petco, she realized Raymond was
blind. Although very adaptable, he had not been around a dog. Much less a
120lb. Blood Hound! We decided an in home introduction would be best. Even
though she said "Hunter" would not be a problem. I am sure you could see
by just the name of the animal it was a little bit scary. Especially
because she was talking to his foster Mom!
After arriving with Raymond the cat, Hunter in her kennel,
Raymond was allowed to roam. Raymond was staying for the day to see how
things went. He hid behind the sofa and then started to explore. Things
were going well. He was acclimating. Goliath & Be-Be's World made the call
to see how things were going as they had committed to giving Raymond a
life long home. This is a recent photo of Hunter and Raymond. They have
adapted well. Raymond runs the show, blind or not. He chases Hunter,
although he has learned from Hunter if you are going to get a treat, you
have to sit for it.... and he does! It was a "purrfect" match.

The photo is of "Raymond" (the cat) and "Hunter" the dog).
What a wonderful life for Raymond and he
fills the needs of his "Mommy" and Hunter.

Pollyanna, a VERY pretty
Blue Headed Pionus Parrot

This is Pollyanna in her home. |
This is Pollyanna's Story.
Soon after Pollyanna had hatched from her egg, one of the breeder's
hairs accidentally got wrapped around Pollyanna's toes. The
circulation was cut off which resulted in the death of the toes.
Since most people won't buy a bird that is not perfect, this little
bird was not sold but she needed a home. My friend LeAnne heard
about the little bird's sad story. She was and still is a foster
mother of kitties for Goliath and Be-Be's World. For a long time I
had wanted a bird companion. My friend LeAnne knew this. She felt this
little bird would be perfect for me. When Pollyanna was only a few
weeks old, my friend brought her to me to raise. I had read a lot of
books on bird care provided by my friend so I felt ready. LeAnne
taught me how to feed this little bird and how to set up a home for
her. Never in my wildest dreams did I know a bird could wrap her
wings around my heart the way Pollyanna has. She also has wrapped
herself around my husband's heart. Every night when he arrives home
from work, Pollyanna does a little dance for him. She struts back
and forth and opens her tail feathers and holds out her wings. She
is a flirt!
Pollyanna has been an absolute
pleasure to have around. She is very sweet and friendly. As you can
see from the pictures, her handicapped foot has not slowed her down.
She is an awesome little girl and is much loved. Linda, Gary
and Pollyanna

Chantilly Lace
This story tells about a cat who was dumped,
found her way to a kind person
who was caring for a feral colony, and trusted
that person enough to show off her kitten.
I don't know how she happened to become a
stray but she did. She may have been a throw-away cat, in other words,
dumped. She was found alone and just pregnant. Well not exactly alone, she
had a kitten with her. In fact her kitten was the largest kitten I have ever
seen! Here's the story of Chantilly Lace. She came into Goliath and Be-Be's
World foster cat program and I was her foster mother. This kitty had found
her way to a home where the owner, Marty, cared for a feral colony of cats
that lived in her neighborhood. Each cat was captured and neutered or spayed
and received veterinary care all paid for by Marty. Suddenly a new cat added
herself to this stray population. The kitty looked as though she had
recently given birth. Marty looked everywhere for the kittens but the mom
cat would eat then disappear. One day the cat lead Marty to an old VW van
nearby - the family was found! The family consisted of one HUGE kitten.
Marty contacted Goliath and Be-Be's World in hopes of finding homes for
these two kitties. The mom and her kitten came to my home to be fostered.
Chantilly's kitten was an orange tabby male. When he was old enough Goliath
and Be-Be's World found an adoption home for him right away. Chantilly Lace
was a different story. When it was time for her to take the trip to Petco
for the day, she would hide under my bed. So, I got the hint and adopted her
myself! She is extremely affectionate and gets along well with the other
cats. She's my sweetie!

My Elsie
I would like you to meet my adopted kitty, Elsie. This
sweet kitty was a very much cherished cat that lived with an old woman
for many years. The kitty was doted on and was living a happy life. One
day the old woman died quite suddenly while preparing dinner. The family
decided to let Goliath and Be-Be's World find a new home for the kitty.
When kitty first came to my home she immediately took
cover under a coffee table. She was painfully shy and I think she was
deeply mourning the loss of her human and her home. Her depression was
preventing her from interacting or eating food. Kitty stayed under the
coffee table for two solid weeks when finally she nibbled at the food in
her bowl! She was starting to eat! Around this time she peeped out from
under the table to let me pet her then she ran back. It was torture for
her to come out so I let her take all the time she needed. It took her
almost 6 weeks of gradually coming out until she was feeling well enough
to stay out and begin bonding with me.
If asked what I think turned Elsie around I'd have to
say it was giving her time and patience to do what she needed to
do. Nine months later she acts as if she's always lived here!
|
Elsie got her name because her black and
white fur pattern reminds me of a Holstein cow. Elsie the cow. She is
one of the most affectionate cats I've ever known. She is the first one
to greet me when I arrive home and the first to jump on my lap when I
sit down. It was well worth every minute of time it took for Elsie to
recover from her grief. I am so thankful I never gave up on her.

This is my pet tortoise Jemima. She was fostered in my
home then I decided to adopt her. Her shell is deformed due to a poor diet
in her previous home. With the help and guidance from Goliath and Be-Be's
World, Jemima is on a proper diet now. When she first came to my house she
basically dragged herself along with her front legs. After 1 1/2 years,
Jemima can move her hips enough to walk partly on her feet Her
progress has been slow but steady.
That's a tortoise for you! |
|
As you can see from her picture Jemima has
the prettiest eyes ever!
